How's your selling GRIT midway in 2025?

An insightful mid-year self-assessment is to check your sales GRIT.

For reference, we recommend sales professionals read the book Grit, written by Angela Duckworth, Ph.D. If you haven't read it, add it to your bucket list.

Why? Because during the COVID years - and even carrying over to today - many sales peoples' resolves and attitudes about selling as a profession suffered and have not fully recovered. For some, those invisible and internal emotional scars are real

In her book, Dr. Duckworth observes that it's the characteristics of 1) passion for what you do, and 2) perseverance to continue in the face of adversity, that help salespeople regain sales success habits. She calls the combination Grit.

How do you increase your passion about what you sell? Be interested enough to learn more about your company and how your products and services help customers. Recall your past successes. Then add perseverance; a willingness to continue when you want to quit and go home.

Our colleague Jason Kleid said, "You need to believe in your company as the best in the business and you need to believe in your products and services as the best in the business.

Because when you believe, your prospects will believe. It comes across in your tone of voice.

If you don't believe that your company is the best in the business and you don't believe that your products or services are the best in the business, I suggest you get out.

If you're selling something you don't believe in or working for a company you don't believe in, you're not being honest with your employer, your prospects, and most importantly, yourself.

Go find a company you can believe in."

Thank you, Jason, well stated.

Passion, perseverance and belief will differentiate successful sales professionals in the balance of 2025. May you be among their number.

We wish you well in your GRIT mastery.

Good luck, good selling, and be gritty.
