Time to ring out the old and ring in the new

The beginning of a new year is a wonderful time to consider your personal and professional goals for the next 12 months and beyond.

Ask yourself, What did I learn in 2022 that I want to...

continue doing?

stop doing?

do more of?

do less of?

begin doing?

When setting goals, consider these 4 principles:

1. Goals should be big. Goals have to be big for you to get excited. If not, you won't do what's needed to reach them. It's pretty tough to get excited about making last month's car payment. (Unless it's a REALLY nice car)

2. Goals should be long-term, five years or longer. You need time to accomplish a big goal. Big goals give you long-term direction. If you have a big goal, you can have a bad month, bad quarter, or even a bad year and recover to catch up.

3. Goals should be short-term. Break your goals into a series of comfortable steps. A successful career doesn't just happen. It's made up of successful hours, days, and weeks. It's consistent actions you take on a daily basis that transform your dreams into reality.

Goals should be in writing. Something magical happens when you put your goals in writing. Having written goals transform them from wishful thinking into a personal commitment.

Put aside a few hours and think about what you'd like to accomplish in your life. Set yourself some goals. It will be one of the most meaningful time investments of your life.

Not only does it work, but it works so well it will become a way of life.

Good luck, good selling, and good goal setting.
